Welcome

My wife and I are foster parents in Madison County, NY. My wife?’s father and our current 3 foster children live with us in Chittenango on our 30acre farm. My wife is a speech-language pathologist at St Joseph?’s hospital in Syracuse and I own a retail bonsai shop.

We are opening an interactive animal farm and garden display / playground for children in foster care in Madison and adjacent counties which will be located on our property. We intend to create a meeting place for foster children, foster parents, and biological families. The farm will be a place for foster children to get together for peer interaction, growth, and development. A place where foster parents can gather to exchange ideas, concerns and information on how to better serve the children in their care, and a safe environment where biological families can enjoy each other?’s company while working toward reunification. Currently cases that involve court ordered supervised visitation are conducted at the Department of Social Services in office style cubicles, area fast food restaurants, and in some cases courts require an area that operates surveillance equipment such as the entrances of department stores. We are hoping to provide a place where these requirements can be met in a fun and safe environment. At the farm the children can play in a child friendly atmosphere and the parents can learn to interact with them in that setting. One of our main goals is that every child visiting the farm will have a small plot of land to plant and call their own, and an animal to share the responsibility of with other children. We are hoping to adopt homeless or abused animals in need of secure and loving placement to help us meet our goals. Although our focus is on foster and p.i.n.s. Kids, the farm will be open to all children in need. We are hoping to encourage organizations that cater to the needs of those outside our range to use the property for their programs. We will have a revolving office set up for other groups to use when doing day or weeklong projects.
