                              ARE

                                                   YOU

                                                                  WATCHING ? ?

AND what, exactly, does that mean?

Am I playing cop?        NO.

Am I spying on my neighbors?        OF COURSE NOT.

Neighborhood Watch is about neighbor helping neighbor; helping you keep your (and our) homes and families safe --- by watching to see what is going on, who belongs here, who may be looking to make any one of us a victim of a crime, and reporting suspicious activity to the police. If your neighbor becomes the victim of a burglary, then you also become a victim -- you lose the sense of security that you previously had in your home.

We are NOT a vigilante commite, and you must not call us instead ofthe police. We do not take reports of crime, we do not carry fingerprint kits to test your car after a burglary to it. Always call TPD first, then notify your block leader if you discover a crime or suspicious person/vehicle -- you are the eyes and ears for the police. TPD relies heavilyon help from Neighborhood Watch.

Neighborhood Watch is about keeping you informed if there is something going on in the neighborhood that may affect your safety. If you will give us a way to contact you (email address, phone number, etc) we can let you know about emerging crime trends (such as a pattern of auto burglaries in our immediate area, BOLOs, breaking & entering, etc.).  We can send you the Morning Reports from TPD that describe criminal events of the previous day from our district.   If you have issues of safety (speeding on your street, suspicious vehicles or suspicious people wandering around) or needs (folks parking so that your driveway is blocked, street light out, illegal dumping in front of your house, serious flooding after the afternoon summer rains, etc) we can steer you in the right direction to get the problem taken care of, and back you up for getting assistance if we need to.  Because we all live here, and these issues affect us all, together.

Neighborhood Watch is about all of us working togetherwith the police department and the city government for improvements that will help make our neighborhood a nicer -- and safer-- place to live.    Children’s safety . . . especially to and from school . . . is an ongoing project for us to improve upon. But we need help from you to get it done. Eliminating littering and illegal dumping . . . which will help keep the criminal element away from our neighborhood . . . is another ongoing project. But we need help from you to accomplish this.

   Neighbor helping neighbor.

Neighbors watching out for each other.

Sounds like a nice neighborhood to live in.

WELCOME to EAGLE EYE NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH !!!!

We try to provide information that is not ONLY of a crime watch nature, but which can aid us all in our everyday life. We strive to post community events (especially those of low or no cost to attend, such as the Friday EXTRA! concerts in the park), hours of operation of the swimming pools, local school events, etc. We may occasionally miss an upcoming community event, but  it's very time consuming to browse the web and find all info we think you may be interested in. If you can spare a few minutes each month to help formulate this information for publishing on this web site, please contact the web administrator.

Please give us feedback on this web site. You can do this by posting on the "Discussion" page or you can email the web administrator : EagleEyeGrid18@YAHOO.com

This is YOUR web site, and we want to know what you want to see on here, as well as any other points of interest you may have.

At this time our Neighborhood Watch meetings are held 4 times a year: January, April, July and October, usually the last Thursday of the month (dates to be announced closer to meeting times). The next meeting will be held on a date to be announced for this fall (probably October) in Larrick Hall @ Forest Hills Presbyterian Church. Please bring any issues/concerns/suggestions/requests which you may have with you for the discussion session. All are welcome -- bring a friend! . . . even a friend from a neighboring grid!

TampaGov.net

Check out the vast array of information available at your fingertips on the City of Tampa web site!!

You can request the trees be trimmed away from your streetlight so that it will cast more light for safety, request a traffic cut through study to help cut down on speeding cars on your street, get that speed limit sign re-installed, report a nuisance property to code enforcement, find out what events are happening around town (many are FREE!), local pool operating hours, etc. (Del Rio Pool is open year around, and is heated during the winter months.)

Even while wearing your pajamas!!

REMEMBER --- This is not a vigilante committee!

This is YOUR neighborhood. Take an active interest in it!

HEY---------------WHAT'S THAT CAR DOING????

Dumping their old sofa in front of Chamberlain's dumpster? Looking for a place to park for that neighbor's barbecue? Or looking to make you a victim of a crime?

Police base the focus of their patrols on the crime incidence reports, so please remind your neighbors to report every crime ----- every   time .

If something looks suspicious, call for TPD to check it out. The rule of thumb is: IF IT DOESN'T FEEL RIGHT, IT PROBABLY ISN'T!! If it's happening NOW--- dial 9 1 1. Otherwise, call the non-emergency #231-6130. They want you to call them. If nothing else, it lets people visiting our neighborhood know that we have police presence, as well as watchful neighbors. You'd be amazed how many criminals that alone will deter.

Looking for a group of NHW folks to get together about once a month to kick around some projects within our grid. This will not be an official NHW Grid meeting. Also looking for folks to serve as Block Leaders . . . mainly to help distribute announcements for meetings or special information. Please email: EagleEyeGrid18@YAHOO.com for more info.
