Welcome

J. Evan Ward

Welcome to the fall edition of the Concerned Citizens of Quaker Hill Newsletter. Volunteerism is alive and well in Quaker Hill, as many of your neighbors have contributed to making our community a better place to live. In particular I would like to thank all of the people that helped maintain the Quaker Hill Green over the past six months, especially those who diligently watered the plants over the long hot summer. The Green is a focal point for our community, and a source of enjoyment and relaxation for all. This past spring, members also helped with the May-Pole event and participated in a CCQH regular meeting that included an interesting talk by Glen Dryer about the Connecticut College Arboretum.

Speaking of volunteerism, we have several up-coming events with which you can become involved. The annual Pumpkin Carving contest will be held at the QH Green starting at 4:30 pm, Halloween night. We need people to be in attendance as pumpkins are being dropped off and to help judge the entries. In December, we need volunteers to help with the Holiday Tree Lighting ceremony on December 8th. In addition, we are always looking for volunteers to help maintain the plants and gardens on The Green and around the Post Office. If you are interested in helping our organization, please contact me (evan.ward3@gmail.com) or Membership Chair, Charlie Coiro (charliecoiro@hotmail.com).

To round out this year we will be holding two regular meetings for our membership. One will be held on Monday, October 22nd and the other in mid-November to elect officers for the upcoming year. So consider becoming a member of the CCQH and helping with one or all of our activities.

Volunteering is a great way to contribute to the QH community and help preserve the charm of our Village.
