According to lab tests conducted for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, three major brands of crayons were found to be contaminated with asbestos, a substance that causes cancer. The brands found to contain asbestos were Crayola, Prang, and Rose Art. The asbestos is thought to be a contaminant of talc, which is used to strengthen crayons.
