WHO: The American Red Cross in Greater New York

WHAT: Preparing for the Unexpected is a FREE 60-minute class that teaches families and individuals basic safety steps to take before and during an emergency. Topics include:?· How to create your family?’s Emergency Communications Plan?· How to assemble and personalize your home, office or car Disaster Supplies Kit?· What to do if disaster strikes

WHEN: Thursdays, March 4,11,18 and 25, 6:15pm until 7:15 pm

WHERE: The American Red Cross in Greater New York150 Amsterdam Avenue (between 66th and 67th Street)New York, NY

WHY: The events of September 11th have increased the public's need to be prepared. This class will help individuals and families establish simple emergency plans and procedures so that New Yorkers will be able to respond and cope more effectively in an emergency.
INFO: Reservations are required. To reserve a seat please call Karina Cuevas at 1-877-REDCROSS ext. 2482 or register to attend a course online at www.nyredcross.org. To have a Red Cross representative deliver the Preparing for the Unexpected class at your facility or community center call 1-877-REDCROSS.

The American Red Cross helps people avoid, prepare for and respond to emergencies. We also help them rebuild their lives after an emergency. In addition to responding to major disasters like the events of September 11, the American Red Cross in Greater New York responds to an average of eight emergencies a day such as fires, water main breaks and building collapses. The Red Cross also offers a variety of health and safety courses on such subjects as First Aid and Adult and Child CPR. To schedule a safety course call 1-800-514-5103 or visit www.nyredcross.org.
