Undated Reports:

January - Three teenage boys were reported for getting into mailboxes along Old North Church Rd. and hanging out in the back yard of a resident on Old North Church Rd.

March - A boy was reported for shooting rocks at other kids, using a large sling shot.

March - Some kids spray-painted some road equipment, but the contractor caught them and called police.


Dated Reports:

March 30 - Rifles were being shot into the air by two angry men at the Citgo center near the Old Towne entrance. Police did respond.

April 13 - Police were called to the lake to stop three boys (two black, one white)from continuing to pull up recently planted trees as they searched for worms. Police, along with Dr. Owen, did respond and did talk to the boys and had them repair the damage done to the holes. These boys were from Yorktown South apartments.

April 17 - 6-8 white teenage boys were spotted strolling in the middle of Old Towne Rd. at 4:00 a.m. - Police were called and asked to check out what was going on.

May - Sam Drive - a car break-in - Police made the report to our Block Watch

May - Old Nantucket Cove - Windshield was broken on a vehicle parked in a driveway - Police were called to the residence

Steve Clark, Legislative Assistant to Councilwoman Vicki Welch, passed along a warning from the police that, in #rd Division, cars are being broken into and garage door openers are being stolen to facilitate a home burglary later.

Councilwoman Welch reports that she has arranged a partnership with Metro police to assign extra officers on the weekends to Candlelight, Scottsdale, and Fairdale center, where vandalism and other crime have been the highest. If crime moves to other areas, so will these extra officers. She is also looking in to possibly getting a small skate park put in at Hornback and making a proposal that Fairdale High School be made a Community school.

June 8 - A kid in a gorilla suit reportedly jumped on the back of a mail truck as the truck drove on Old Towne Rd. Other kids were videotaping this caper. The postoffice was informed and the address of the offender was reported to the postman.

July 19, 2006 - Police were called to come see a group of twemty juveniles, all dressed in black t-shirts, wandering the streets at 4:00 a.m.

Undated Incidents not reported to police:
Fridays and Saturdays, teens gathering at the lake end of Old North Church Rd. - 4:00 a.m.

Mid-July - On Old Glouchester, resident reports someone entered her house, knocked on her bedroom door - 2:00 a.m.

Late July - residents report outside doors being knocked on at night.

Note: September Board meeting at Pull-A-Part
Extra police hired for weekends by Councilwoman Welch. Motel coming at Snyder and Outer Loop.

Linda suggests we have Restriction Violation stickers made to remind residents when they are in violation. Vicki will check on illegal use of fireworks in neighborhood.


August 3 - Police were called to a residence on Old Towne Rd. when a group of kids was trespassing in a resident's driveway, riding skateboards there even though they had been asked to leave. Behavior escalated to name-calling and threatening the daughter of the homeowner. Police did respond and, after debating what should be done, did talk with the parent of one offender.

September - Trailer stolen from resident's driveway

October 4 - Mailboxes were vandalized along Old Towne Rd. and along York River Rd. - Police were notified, reports taken.

October 6 - A home on Old Towne was broken into between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. The same night, a home on York River Rd. was burglarized, the thieves having taken the garage door opener from the home vehicle and using it to gain entry into the house. Many items were stolen.

October 21 - kids vandalizing yard signs, throwing pumpkins in streets - police responded to call

October 31 - Police called to OLd Towne Rd. residence to observe group of 30 young people blocking sidewalk from trick-or-treaters.

November 24 - Decorations vandalized on Old Towne - police called.

November 25 - Houses and vehicles egged along Old Towne - police called - reported to Councilwoman Welch to remind police to patrol our neighborhood occasionally.

January 28 - Resident reports car broken into, money taken - police notified

February 20 - House break-in on Chippendale Court - computer taken, golf clubs, etc.

April 5 - Block Watch Committe met (Linda Duncan, Charles Owen, Donnie faulkner, Bob Davison, Officer Scott Sturgeon. Suggestion for slowing speeders - have grooves cut at the crosswalk spots on Sam and Old Towne. Linda will check with Public Works about this.

May 31 - Police were called to remind wandering group of kids that they were out past 11:00 p.m. curfew - kids dispersed

Prevent thefts by keeping garage doors closed and car doors locked and removing valuables from view in cars

June 16 - A man was on Old North Church Rd. about 9:00 p.m., knocking on doors, asking questions about individuals' home security systems, claiming to be selling APEX home security. APEX manager said they had no one working our neighborhood by the name shown on the driver's license he displayed to one inquiring homeowner. Police were notified of this activity.

June 18 - Contracted workers for LG&E were in backyards, checking poles for repair - not replacement, as many are reported to need. LG&E is being notified of the state of disrepair into which many poles have fallen.

* We have requested that curfew signs be added to our Block Watch signs to remind parents that police will be called when kids are out past curfew.

* We are signing up for a hotline voice mail service that will be used by residents to report tips on criminal activity so rewards can be offered.

June 26 - Signs have been moved around to wrong streets, possibly creating confusion if emergencies arise. This has been reported to police, with a request to watch our subdivision between 1:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m.

July 15 - Police were called on a large group of youths meeting at the end of Old North Church Rd.

August Block Watch Meeting - curfew signs have been ordered to be place on the poles with the Block Watch signs - Yorktown Hotline number has ben established with Southend Answering Service - That number will be given out on the next newsletter

August 30 - Cars were parked at the end of Old North Church Rd. where an exchange was witnessed. Photos were made of the cars involved and police were called.

September - attempted burglary of home on Declaration - police notified and did respond

November 25 - It was reported that our Christmas lights on our entrance islands were cut and stolen last night. Also, some spotlights were smashed sometime earlier.
