Sniping and Anonymous Postings

I only log onto this website about once a month or so, but every time I do, it really distresses me to ''hear'' all of the sniping and insults that go on, as well as the anonymous postings.

I think it would be helpful to adopt some rules for website postings. For example, on Louisville Hot Bytes, the person who runs the website (Robin Garr) has made it so that you have to sign in with your real name. There are no anonymous or ''nickname'' authors, although you can use just your first name and last initial. Also, no harrassing or bad-mouthing. Yes, you are always welcome to state your opinion, but in an open, honest way that does not denigrate anyone.

Sure, I know what you're thinking: ''more governmental controls'', or ''website police''. But, I challenge you to read some of the postings on WP.com, and then go to www.louisvillehotbytes.com and see the difference in the tone.

I think this sums it up for me: whenever I do catch up on the postings here, it kind of makes me feel bad about my neighborhood.
I think this website is a great way to disseminate information and have productive discussions about Woodlawn Park, but we should all be able to discuss things rationally, without the cloak of anonymity.

Anonymous Postings

I agree 100% with your views on our cities website. Many of the messages are very insulting and should never be allowed on our website usless the writer is willing to give their name. If anyone reads the Courier Journal editoral page you will notice there are no anonymous letters to the editors.

If anyone has a problem with our city government please come to the meetings that are held on the 3rd Monday of each month at the Westport Road Church of Christ. Before each meeting citizens are given the chance to voice their concers about problems in our city. Please Attend!

Shows people for who they are

While I think you're on the right track (and my initials are in my moniker (cbs)) the only reason the websites are different is because people hide their own true self to conform to rules. On here, they seem to let it fly.

People can be mean, and I certainly don't agree with half the people on here, but it's no different than GW Bush and Hilary having an argument, just a smaller venue.
I agree too !!

I have not read all the posting in a while and I came across this listing.I agree too people can be mean sometimes and thats why so many are afraid to sigh their name.,but we live in the real world and some people are unkind with there words,Hopefully it will get better??Oh by the way did everyone get through the storms OK!
