Yes, I had John Dillard of "Joy Clean" and "The Painters" of Houston, Texas knock on my door and offer to clean and paint my house in the Energy Corridor on March 20, 2015. He gave me a great price and started Monday. He did a great job power washing the house, but then he asked for a check to cover cost of wood and materials so the carpenter could replace the rotted wood after the house dried the next day. Well, ol John's truck broke down and he couldn't make it the next day, so he gave me a courtesy call to let me know he wouldn't be here then, but he would the day after his truck was fixed. Hey! What about my check for materials? He said, "Well, he already bought the material and he'd see me bright and early the next day!"
The bats high tailed it out of the belfry and my head cleared up enough to call the bank and stop payment on the check. Whew! That was a close one! I still haven't seen ole John or my material since, so be careful if you run into him. I don't think he's bad person, but his life went awry one day and he’s still barely a step ahead of the repo man.
