Tax Assessment and Property Tax Basics

The approximate value of your property is assessed by your township's assessors office . This assessment is used to calculate the amount of property tax that you pay each year.

If you do not agree with the assessment of your property, you can appeal the assessment.

If you decide to appeal your property's assessment, you must submit your appeal within 30 days from the published date (see above) of the assessment.

Property taxes must be paid twice a year, no later than...

  1. June 1
  2. September 1
Note - If the above dates are on a weekend, then the payments are due the following Monday.

Tax Assessment and Property Tax Details

There's a lot of good information "out there" about property taxes and assessments. Unfortunately, all that good info is not in one convenient place.

Below you'll find a number of topics dealing with property taxes and assessments with township and county links that are "good" for those particular topics.

If you are interested in a particular topic, I suggest that you look at all the links for that topic. Each link contains it's own "nuggets" of information.

If you have questions, please contact the assessor's office of your township .
