Edgewood Highlands

Some issues I've noticed. Anyone else have similar issues?

-People stealing recyclables is definitely a problem. Why bother going through the effort of recycling when all of the cans and bottles are going to be stolen; and the thieves benefit off of us, taking it all to Mass? Cranston loses out on the profit, and it sure doesn't help our taxes!

-People (probably college kids) bashing/breaking bottles in the middle of the road.

-Poorly raised children screaming vulgarities at the top of their lungs every morning on the way to school waking probably everyone in the neighborhood who was sleeping. Can I really call the cops on kids?? lol

I really love Edgewood, but it seems as though the low-lives are moving in, and South Providence is moving closer. What does everyone else think?

I agree that people stealing recyclables is a problem. I had thought that as long as the stuff got reused or recycled, it was OK. I hadn't thought about the loss of revenue to the city which is a good point. But then I became concerned about the possible link between those recycling bin scavengers and a theft at our house. Quite some time ago, we had two copper downspouts ripped off of our house. This was prior to the large expansion of the metal recycling places on Allen's Ave. It was about the same time we noticed copper downspouts had also been stolen from the renovated building housing lawyers offices in Pawtuxet Village.

Does anyone know what sort of proof of ownership those recycling places require, if any? Who should we contact about our concerns about those businesses?

Also, how did the nieghborhood watch meeting go?
