Pasadena Police Department Incident Tracking Project

Incident Tracking Project

At the last general meeting of the Arroyo Terrace Association the Law Enforcement and Safety Committee introduced a program to provide a visual representation of the number, type and location of citizen initiated police calls. The purpose of this mapping project is to allow Arroyo Terrace Association and its Block Captains, to partner with the Pasadena Police Department (PPD), North West Service Area Advisory Board and the Community Services Department of the PPD to analyze law enforcement issues and take actions to eliminate or reduce them.

At our meeting we were given the top ten citizen initiated calls within Arroyo Terrace Association by the PPD. We selected the following four from the list of ten:

* Unusual and suspicious traffic patterns, loitering and other activities
* Loud music in vehicles
* Racing on the streets
* Prostitution
These above items were expanded to seven PPD call codes in order to cover issues raised in our four concerns.

We will have a representative map at the March 15 General Meeting of the Arroyo Terrace Association to illustrate how the periodic maps will look. The analysis and corrective action will be discussed. In the meantime, it is important that you call (626) 744-4241 to report all non-emergency incidents. Call (626) 744-4585 if you wish to remain anonymous. It is important for you to call and report all incidents for three reasons.

First, the mapping will reflect the codes that we have determined to be the most important at this time. However, based on your calls the data show other types of incidents are trending up and require corrective action. Secondly, the PPD Communications Section wants to determine if the volume of calls generated by this project will require a dedicated operator to handle the increased calls. Thirdly, we are more apt to get a prompt response if there are a number of calls reporting the same incidents. Please call Joan Williams, (626) 791-8686, if you feel that the PPD is not responsive to your calls.

Please feel free to call Joan Williams or me, (626) 794-5657, if you have questions regarding this project.
