PLATTE RIVER POWER AUTHORITY AND NEIGHBORHOOD LINK TEAM UP TO BRING FREE WEB SITES TO FORT COLLINS NEIGHBORHOODS

FORT COLLINS, Colo., October 11, 2000 - Neighborhood Link (www.neighborhoodlink.com), the Internet-based community network that enables neighborhood associations to create their own free, interactive Web sites today announced that Plate River Power Authority (www.prpa.org), has signed on as the first sponsor in Fort Collins. Through this sponsorship, Platte River Power Authority is helping to bring Neighborhood Link’s community service to Fort Collins.

“We look for ways to add value to the communities we serve,” said Brian Moeck, general manager of Platte River.

Last week, Neighborhood Link and Platte River Power Authority participated in the annual Fort Collins Celebration of Neighborhoods. The annual celebration was the perfect place to let neighborhood leaders know about their new web sites. Neighborhood leaders and active citizens were excited to learn more about Neighborhood Link at the event. The city’s Neighborhood Resource Office, that organized the event, will work with Neighborhood Link in the coming months to put on city-wide training for local leaders.

“We’re very excited that we have teamed up with Platte River Power Authority to bring our one-of-a-kind civic service to Fort Collins community,” said Ted Pinkowitz, CEO of Neighborhood Link. “Having an organization like Platte River Power Authority that is as community-focused as we are makes this sponsor an outstanding match for Neighborhood Link.”

“Fort Collins neighborhoods groups are a real treasure!” Mayor Martinez said, “That is why I am pleased that through this partnership with Neighborhood Link all of our neighborhoods will have a place on the Internet. This technology will be able to further strengthen connections between neighbors!”

Platte River generates the electricity used by its owner communities of Estes Park, Fort Collins, Longmont, and Loveland, and also provides electricity and support services to other utilities and businesses in the western United States. Platte River is a public power utility with facilities located along the Front Range of northern Colorado, the Western Slope of Colorado and near Medicine Bow, Wyoming.
