Washington Park East Neighborhood Association

Sept 2003 - 4th of July Bash review

Aug 30, 2003

4th of July Bash at the Boat House The 1st Annual Washington Park East Neighborhood Association July 4th celebration at the Boat House on Smith Lake was a huge success! Over 200 neighbors and their kids attended the festivities, which included a decorated bicycle (and scooter and stroller) parade with prizes for everyone, free ice-cream and beverages, music, stickers and temporary tattoos. We want to thank the Fire Dept. (Engine Co. No. 21) for bringing a fire engine over for the kids and adults to explore--it was a highlight! The response was so positive that plans are already being made for the 2nd annual event. We want to thank our sponsors (Barb Frank with State Farm Insurance at 264 S. Downing St., Roger Garcia with Bang Salon at 1207 E. Alameda Ave., and Robyn Landry with The Kentwood Company of Cherry Creek at 44 Cook St.) for their financial support. Steele Elementary had a lemonade stand to raise donations for the British Primary internship program and they want to thank those who contributed. And thanks to ALL of our volunteers, including Emilie Ailts, Nicole Deming, Beth Ferguson, Marilyn Holmes, Ed Hurry, Cindy Johnstone, Lisa Morris, Lynn O'Neil, Lynn Pressnall, Bob Shaklee and our newsletter/flyer distribution volunteers --we could not have done it without you!
