BARKING DOG OR HOWLING CAT CAUSING YOU TO LOSE SLEEP?

Nov 14, 2000

Denver Municipal Animal Shelter brochure suggests that many pet owners may not be aware that their pet is a nuisance to their neighbor(s). The excessive barking of a dog, for example, frequently occurs when the owner is not at home. Increasing pet owner awareness is often the solution. Does your dog bark when he is alone in your yard, when another dog barks, when he's outside and wants to come in, or when someone passes by your yard? If you answer "yes" to any of these questions, your dog could be a noise nuisance. Cats who roam the neighborhood at night also cause disturbances as they are often heard howling when they encounter other felines. The Denver Municipal Animal Shelter suggests keeping your pet inside when you are not home and at night, and/or putting your pet in the garage with blankets, water and other necessities. It is the pet owner's responsibility to find out what is causing the problem and to resolve it. Call for more ideas at 303/698-0076 on how you can be a more conscientious pet owner.
