Welcome to Old Louisville

Old Louisville, which extends from the southern edge of downtown Louisville to the University of Louisville's Belknap campus, is one of the city's most historic and exciting neighborhoods. Over 17,000 people, representing a wide spectrum of ages, incomes, races and lifestyles make Old Louisville their home. It is this diversity, as well as the attractiveness of its beautiful, turn-of-the-century Victorian homes, which makes Old Louisville so inviting.
Ask many Old Louisvillians why they live here and chances are their first response will be, "Because of the variety". People representing a wide spectrum of education, abilities, lifestyles and incomes make Old Louisville their home.Renters represent a significant share of Old Louisville's population due to the large size of most of the homes as well as the preponderance of apartment buildings in the area. In recent years, the number of owner occupants has increased. Old Louisville's 1205 acres are primarily residential. The northern portion adjoining downtown Louisville is predominantly commercial and the southern area is devoted to the University of Louisville.
